Position: Summer STEM Explorers Teaching Assistant
Location: Metro Detroit
Salary Range: $15 - $17 per hour (based on qualifications)
Working Hours: June through Mid-August time commitment, 4 days a week between 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Job Description:


As a Summer STEM Explorers Teaching Assistant, you will help support our annual Summer STEM Explorers Camp that runs June through August, guiding students through hands-on STEM activities and help chaperone at our daily field trips.

Working alongside our lead teachers, you’ll support engaging lessons, help with enrichment projects, and foster a caring space where students can explore, learn, and thrive. We are seeking individuals who share our passion for nurturing young learners and making a positive impact on their lives and in the community. 

This role is perfect for university students looking for a STEM education-based internship during their Summer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support STEM instructors during summer camp sessions (classroom setup, activity assistance, student supervision/chaperone).
  • Engage with students in a safe, encouraging, and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by lead teachers and school administrators.
  • Assist with program facilitation and ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 60 college credits or equivalent in education, social work, or a STEM field.
  • Availability to work 4 days a week, between 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
  • Strong passion for STEM education and a desire to inspire students.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
